About Us

Lula Mae Bistro is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.  The owner, Beverly Gentry, has been a financial services professional for over 48 years with the majority of her focus in the Mortgage Lending Industry.

As a young child, Beverly spent time at her great grandmother’s home, Lula Mae Mobley, in central Texas, watching, learning, and eventually helping her bake biscuits, cornbread, greens, and other southern dishes.  To further that education and as a form of stress relief, Beverly continued learning by attending numerous culinary and baking courses throughout the years.  It was always her dream to utilize family recipes along with the many life lessons learned at the hands of her great grandmothers, grandmothers, and mother to offer Southern favorites to those around her.  

Lula Mae Bistro is a Southern Bistro, nice but not fancy.  The restaurant has excellent food, with outstanding service, housed in a beautiful historic building on Moore Avenue in Downtown Terrell, Texas.  

Lula Mae was the essence of a Southern lady and was known as an impeccable hostess.  Her legacy is being carried on through many generations including her great-great granddaughter, Raychal Padgett, who serves as the General Manager at Lula Mae Bistro.
