Lula Mae Bistro was born from a lifelong dream and a family legacy rooted in Southern hospitality.

Owner Beverly Gentry spent countless hours as a young girl in the kitchen of her great-grandmother, Lula Mae Mobley, learning far more than recipes. Together they baked biscuits, stirred pots of greens, mixed cornbread, and prepared meals that brought family and friends together around the table. In that kitchen, Beverly learned that food has always been about more than nourishment—it is an expression of love, generosity, and caring for others.

Although Beverly built a successful career of more than four decades in the financial services industry, the dream of opening a restaurant never faded. Along the way, she continued to study the culinary arts, attending cooking and baking classes while preserving the treasured recipes and traditions passed down through generations of her family.

Today, Lula Mae Bistro celebrates those traditions with fresh, Southern-inspired dishes prepared in small batches using quality ingredients and time-honored techniques. Nestled in the heart of Historic Downtown Terrell, our beautifully restored building offers a setting that is welcoming, comfortable, and quietly elegant—where every guest is treated like family.

Lula Mae Mobley was known not only for her wonderful cooking, but for her gracious spirit and exceptional hospitality. Her legacy lives on every day through the restaurant that bears her name and through her great-great-granddaughter, Raychal Padgett, who proudly serves as General Manager, helping lead a team committed to making every guest feel genuinely welcome.
