About Us

Modern bar counter with stylish seating and illuminated shelves

Lula Mae Bistro was born from a lifelong dream and a family legacy of Southern hospitality.

Owner Beverly Gentry first learned her way around the kitchen beside her great-grandmother, Lula Mae Mobley. From biscuits and cornbread to pots of greens and family meals, Lula Mae taught her that good food was about more than what was served on the plate—it was about gathering people together and making them feel cared for.

Although Beverly spent more than four decades building a career in financial services, her dream of opening a restaurant never disappeared. She continued studying cooking and baking while holding close to the recipes, traditions, and lessons passed down through generations of her family.

Today, Lula Mae Bistro brings that heritage to Historic Downtown Terrell with fresh, Southern-inspired food prepared in small batches and served with genuine hospitality. Our beautifully restored historic setting is warm and welcoming—nice, but never too fancy.

Whether you join us for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, or a special celebration, we hope you’ll find good food, gracious service, and the kind of hospitality that makes you want to stay awhile.
